In May, representatives from HVG (Hopfenverwertungsgenossenschaft e.G.) Germany invited beer lovers, craft beer enthusiasts and hops aficionados to sample free beer from Germany and learn about premium hops from genuine German grown hops at Beernanza Shanghai 2018.

Many of the 15.300 attendees of the beer festival gathered at the HVG booth. It was strategically located right next to the entrance and impossible to overlook with its tasteful photos of hops flowers and the iconic New Schwanstein castle.

HVG CFO Dr. Erich Lehmair was at hand to talk to visitors about the advantages of premium hops from Germany and the difference between bittering and aroma hops. Another import topic during the discussions with beer lovers was the traceability of German hops down to the producing family farm. In addition, Dr. Lehmair pointed out that the unique testing of each batch of hops leads to consistent high quality.

Also in attendance was Carlos Ruiz (International Sales Manager, HVG) who convinced many visitors that beer tastes best with high-quality ingredients. German hops are protected by the EU and are products of origin. German hops are displaying the EU quality labels PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) respectively PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) and guarantee European high quality products.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that discerning brewers around the world choose controlled premium raw materials from the European Union such as hops from German growing regions Hallertau (PGI), Elbe-Saale (PGI), Tettnang (PGI) and Spalt (PDO).
