Over the course of the centuries, creative brewers developed more innovative beers—and continue doing so today. New dosage forms such as dry-hopping in the cold storage area during or after fermentation have recently enriched the flavor of beers even further. To meet the requirements of the brewing industry for new and sustainably grown hop varieties, Germany is home to the world’s most modern hop breeding program as a result of a unique collaboration between the hops industry and government offices.
Currently, the flowery and fruity aromas of new hop varieties from Germany are very popular. Different hopping methods allow for the creation of beers with flavor nuances of citrus fruits, berries, wine, exotic fruits, herbs, and even vegetables.
All of the parties involved will continue working on enriching and further developing the centuries-old traditional German hop culture through innovation.
